Update from PHX: February 17

- Yoenis Cespedes, Darwin Perez and Addison Russell arrived in camp today. Russell just turned 19 and is the youngest player in A’s camp. He spent 2012 with the AZL Athletics, Vermont Lake Monsters before ending with the Midwest League’s Burlington Bees. No chance he makes this big league squad however. In his first at bat of the spring, he got plunked on the knee. Welcome to the bigs (sort of)?
- Cespedes does not want to DH, his arm would be wasted if not used it seems. Cespedes launched a home run off of BP pitcher Bob Melvin with the wind blowing in.
- Garrett Olson didn’t throw due to pain in his right hamstring. Doesn’t look to be too serious. He doesn’t seem to be a likely option for anything other than organizational depth.
