Red Sox Reclaim Rosario
The A’s traded Graham Godfrey to Boston to acquire Sandy Rosario. Rosario originally came over for a player to be named later on November 28th, Rosario was then on November 30th designated for assignment, after that Godfrey was sent to Boston as that PTBNL. Today we learned that Rosario did not clear waivers and was claimed by the Boston Red Sox. So essentially the A’s traded Godfrey to the Red Sox for nothing.
Was it worth the risk? Was this not beyond apparent obviously destined to happen the second the A’s DFA’d him? Who cares. Godfrey is not particularly noteworthy, I suppose he represented nice depth if the A’s again needed to resort to a ninth or tenth starter due to injuries, but I am not particularly perturbed by this development. Rosario had some intrigue, but not enough to make me mourn his loss to Boston either.
