Luke Hughes Designated for Assignment
April 30, 2012
Today Luke Hughes tweeted,
“Here we go again.”
I take this to mean that what proved to look inevitable has finally occurred and he has been designated for assignment by the Oakland A’s to make room for new addition Brandon Inge. Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if he cleared waivers and was outrighted to Sacramento, though they have a logjam of their own down there it seems. On the season, Hughes has a .130/.125/.130 slash line with a wOBA of .121 and wRC+ of -33. In just four games with Oakland he has been worth -0.3 WAR (how that is even possible is beyond me), with an .077/.077/.077 slash line, .068 wOBA and -68 wRC+ across thirteen at bats.
